How do I know if I have hair loss?

1. Excessive Hair Shedding

Normal: ~50–100 strands a day
Hair loss warning signs:

  • Large amounts of hair on your pillow, shower floor, or drain

  • Hair keeps falling even on non-wash days

  • Sudden increase in shedding over weeks

👉  Tip: If you see clumps regularly, it’s not normal.

2. Thinner Ponytail or Bun

  • Ponytail feels noticeably smaller than before

  • Need to loop your hair tie more times

  • Hair feels less dense when you touch it

This is one of the earliest and most reliable signs, especially for women.

3. Visible Scalp

  • Wider parting line

  • Scalp more visible under bright light or when hair is wet

  • Crown area looks flatter or see-through

For men, this often starts at the temples or crown.

4. Hair Breaks Easily or Feels Weak

  • Hair snaps easily when brushing

  • More short, fine hairs falling out

  • Overall hair feels thinner and lifeless

5. Slower Hair Growth

  • Hair takes much longer to grow back after a cut

  • Baby hairs are sparse or very fine

  • No improvement despite treatments or products
